PERFORMANCE
Music: Eleanor Academia, The Black Swan; Mr. Riddims & click.BOOM; On Ensemble
Dublab DJ: Frosty and Kutmah

If a tree falls in the forest, these people hear it. TreePeople founder Andy Lipkis, Jagmohan Maini (credited with coining the term "Ecotourism" ) and L.A.'s own Hope Tschopik Schneider explore conservation around the world. We then climb down from the canopy to the roots with On Ensemble's boundary-pushing reinvention of taiko drumming. Next, experience the unstoppable dance party of Mr. Riddims & click.BOOM, followed by multi-talented musical explorer Eleanor Academia, The Black Swan and her all-star rock band.

The series concludes with a Blessing Ceremony organized by artist Linda Vallejo and Native American tribal leaders.

Throughout the series, video DJs Mekanix and the DJs of Dublab will be on deck mixing sound and image – synthesizing the ideas and creativity of First Fridays. Emcee Mark Torres will preside over each evening's proceedings.

First Fridays is a discussion and performance series that elaborates on the issues raised by our COLLAPSE? exhibit. Tickets include admission to the exhibit.
