Our museums remain closed due to COVID-19. While LA County Public Health has entered Phase 3 of the Roadmap to Recovery, allowing for the reopening of museums on June 12, our museums are still slowly welcoming back staff and are in the process of planning for new health and safety protocols in our galleries and gardens. Therefore, we will not be reopening until later in the summer. Sign up here to be the first to know when we will safely re-open to the public and in the meantime, stay connected from home.

Museum Free Days, Admission, and Hours

There are a lot of ways to see the museum for free.

Free Tuesdays

Get free museum admission the first Tuesday of every month (except July and August) and free museum admission every Tuesday in September. We recommend reserving tickets in advance to guarantee museum entry and to skip the line, because of high attendance on these days.

Free Museum Admission Daily For:

  • CA EBT cardholders with ID
  • CA teachers with ID
  • Active or retired military with ID
  • Children 2 and under

Additional tickets must be purchased to see special exhibitions, Butterfly and Spider Pavilion, 3D Theater, and other special ticketed experiences.

Free Hours for L.A. County Residents

L.A. County residents receive free museum admission Monday - Friday from 3-5 pm. Just come to the museums with a valid ID or utility bill the day of your visit.
