First Fridays Ticketing FAQs

What is the ticketing policy for First Fridays?

We have only one General Admission ticket at First Fridays. The general admission ticket will provide guests access to all that First Fridays has to offer. Due to limited capacity on the tours, the discussion hall, and concert hall, all guests can enjoy the activities, on a first-come, first-served basis.

If I buy a ticket, what do I get? Does it guarantee me admission to the show?

General Admission tickets include access to the Museum after-hours, the guided tour, the scientist-led discussion, the First Fridays DJ lounge (complete with spinning from L.A.’s hottest DJs), and the Concert Hall. Due to limited capacity on the tours, the discussion hall, and concert hall, these are all on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on capacity of the concert hall, there will be a constant flow of guests in and out of the hall.

What’s the benefit of buying a pre-sale ticket?

Purchasing your ticket in advance will guarantee your admission to First Fridays. The event will sell out once we hit capacity.

When are tickets available to purchase and/or reserve?

For members a limited number of tickets are available for free when they RSVP in advance. Nonmembers tickets are $18 (February through May) and $20 (June). See breakdown of the 2017 Season ticket dates below.

February: Friday, January 6, 2017
March: Monday, January 30, 2017
April: Monday, February 27, 2017
May: Monday, April 3, 2017
June: Monday, May 1, 2017

If tickets for the event are listed as sold-out online, does that mean I can’t come?

If the event is listed as SOLD OUT, there are no more tickets available to purchase. We no longer reserve tickets to sell at the door. Member tickets not redeemed before 7:00pm will become available for purchase the night of the event, although this is not guaranteed.

What are the benefits of purchasing membership?

In addition to various membership benefits, NHMLA members receive FREE tickets to First Friday when they RSVP in advance. Capacity is limited and tickets not reserved in advance are distributed on a first-come first-served basis. Tickets are non-transferable and members must show a photo ID to claim their tickets. To guarantee admission, Members must arrive prior to 7:00pm on the night of the concert to redeem their tickets.

How many tickets am I entitled to as a Member?

The number of tickets you can reserve is determined by your Membership level. Any tickets for individuals not included on your Membership must be purchased at the nonmember price ($18). Not sure how many tickets you get at your Membership level? Call 213.763.3499 or

Do members need to reserve tickets if they DO NOT wish to access the concert hall?

Yes.  Members who are not interested in accessing the North American Mammal Hall for the concert performance still need to reserve a free admission ticket to First Fridays.  The event will sell out once we hit capacity.

If I bought a ticket online, and when I arrive it says the event is SOLD OUT, will I still be able to get in?

If you have purchased a pre-sale ticket online your ticket will be available at the will call desk.

How long is Will Call open?

Will Call will be open from 4:30 pm to 9 pm at the South and North Entrances.

Where can I park?

Parking is available in patrolled Exposition Park lots on Bill Robertson Lane, across from the Museum. Bill Robertson Lane is accessible from both Exposition Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd.

How many people does the performance hall hold?

First Fridays musical performances take place in the Museum’s North American Mammal Hall, which has a capacity of 500 people. Our ticketing policy allows all guests access to the concert hall on a first-come, first-served basis.

What time are the performances?

DJs will be spinning throughout the evening in the First Fridays lounge. Musical performances generally take place at 8 pm (opening act) and 9:15 pm (headliner). The entire event generally sells out. We encourage you to come early.

Is the First Fridays DJ lounge open to everyone?

Yes! Enjoy!
