L.A. Invents: A Becoming Los Angeles Series
This season we look at what makes L.A. the capital of the 21st century. Weaving together nature, culture, and creativity, we scope out Los Angeles through amazing lectures and tours. Look all around: the architecture of the homes we live in is striking, and so is the pleasure and the mess of the cars we drive to and from them, and the innovations that are prying us out of the driver’s seat. Look down: fleet feet have made this a sports paradise, home to three Olympic games and birthplace of the Zamboni. And look underground – that smelly, tarry stuff that waterproofed Native Americans’ baskets soon meant “black gold” to Angelenos, who stuck oil wells next to orange trees in their backyards. Join us for the genius of L.A.!
A stunning display of vintage cars will be on show at the upcoming June First Fridays event. View rarely-seen cars from the Museum’s collection and then stroll outside for a look at privately-owned classic vehicles on the top level of its car park. Whether you’re a fan of antique autos or luxury rides, join us in honoring the genius of L.A. by exploring some of the machines that have shaped this city.
