WORKSHOP: Tidepool Discoveries!

OFFSITE - Saturday, February 2, 2019; 12 pm - 3 pm

Join NHM’s School Programs team and Marine Biodiversity Center Director, Regina Wetzer, for a day at the shore! During this special educator workshop, we’ll go out into the field for a hands-on exploration of the fascinating and abundant life that calls the intertidal zone home. You’ll hear about groundbreaking research being conducted by NHM scientists in this unique ecosystem, as well as how you can connect students with marine science content, both inside and outside the classroom. We hope to see you there!


WORKSHOP: Planting Seeds, Growing Minds

Saturday, February 23, 2019; 9 am - 12 pm

School gardens are a powerful tool for promoting academic learning, environmental literacy, and community and social development. During this workshop, we’ll discuss logistics for setting up and maintaining a garden at your school and introduce methods for effective classroom management in an outdoor setting. We’ll share strategies for engaging multiple learning styles through nature journaling and provide some helpful related resources. Hear from NHM garden experts and spend time exploring and gaining inspiration from our extensive and beautiful Nature Gardens!
