In order to accommodate all Members during the Halloween season, Member discounted tickets to any evening of Boney Island have replaced discounted tickets to the single-day Haunted Museum event. Individual, Dual, and Family Members may upgrade to Discoverer, Naturalist, or Explorer to receive free tickets to Haunted Museum on October 28, 2023.

No need if you plan on attending on the same day! Boney Island will be activated complimentary exclusively for our Haunted Museum attendees from 6–8 pm on October 28. We will open Boney Island to paid General Admission on October 28 at 8 pm. As a Member, you are able to purchase discounted tickets for any night of Boney Island.

Haunted Museum paid tickets are non-refundable under any circumstances. Please make sure your entire group can attend when booking!

Costumes are encouraged but not required!

Please follow these basic guidelines for a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly experience for everyone. Guests who do not follow these guidelines are not allowed entry or will be removed from the event.

All Museum rules still apply. No functional props or weapons are allowed. No masks that cover the entire head and face. No costumes may be realistic depictions of American law enforcement, current American military uniforms, first responders, emergency medical personnel, or any official government agent. Costumes must not obstruct or impede the flow of traffic or entryways.

The Scavenger Hunt is an activity that leads your group to all of the hotspots throughout the event, including interactions with live actors along the way, culminating in a final scene that is sure to impress!

In order to serve all guests, food trucks with limited menus will be available for purchase for the duration of the event. We aim to be able to serve most dietary needs.

NHM Car Park will be closed during the event, and guests will be parking at the Science Center’s Blue Structure Parking Lot. Parking is $15 for guests arriving before 5 pm, and $18 for guests arriving after 5 pm.

In order to ensure a quality experience for our guests, all Haunted Museum tickets must be reserved in advance by October 15, 2023.

We hope to be able to accommodate all Discoverer and above Members at Haunted Museum this year. In the event that we sell out, please check the Haunted Museum event page for updates.

As in past years, Kids and Adults will both be able to participate in the Scavenger Hunt, which may have a sweet reward. Family-friendly costumes are always encouraged!

This year, Haunted Museum will be taking place indoors and will happen rain or shine. Boney Island is outdoors and will also be open for Haunted Museum guests from 6–8 pm, rain or shine.

Haunted Museum is appropriate for guests of all ages! Gore, overtly frightening images, and other similar themes are not a part of the event content.

If you already have Haunted Museum reservations and are at the Museum for regular hours, the Museum closes to all guests, including Members with tickets for Haunted Museum, at 2 pm and will reopen at 3 pm for Haunted Museum guests. You will need to exit the Museum at 2pm, and check in at the East Entrance at 3pm to enter for the Haunted Museum event.

No. Haunted Museum is a special event, separate from General Admission, and Haunted Museum event reservations are required for all attendees by October 15. We will not be able to accommodate walkup Members.

The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County no longer requires masks worn at all times indoors and in our outdoor Pavilion, regardless of vaccination status. In accordance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, we still strongly recommend all visitors to continue wearing masks while indoors and ask that individual choices are respected.
