FREE DAYS AND HOURS

In addition to our Homeschool Days at NHM (and over at La Brea Tar Pits!), here are other ways you can enjoy the museums for free:

  • Free hours for L.A. County residents: L.A. County residents receive free Museum admission Monday–Friday from 3 to 5 pm with I.D. or a utility bill.
  • L.A. County Library Discover & Go Program: L.A. County Library cardholders receive free general admission for up to two adults and four children to the Natural History Museum and La Brea Tar Pits. Reserve tickets at lacountylibrary.org.

  • Museums for All: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and La Brea Tar Pits are proud members of the Museums for All initiative, a signature access program that encourages families of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. Visit museums4all.org to learn more. Additional tickets must be purchased to see special exhibitions, Butterfly and Spider Pavilion, Dinosaur Encounters, and other special ticketed experiences.

  • Free daily admission: The Museum also offers daily free admission to individuals who are CA EBT cardholders, CA teachers with school I.D., or active/retired military, as well as children 2 and under.
