Rick has been associated with the NHMLA for over four decades and has personally entered over 77,000 objects into the ichthyology collection. Rick started the digitization process for the collection, which is now an ongoing effort ensuring that all specimen information is available to researchers worldwide. Rick also studies the larval development of freshwater and marine fishes, including sculpins (Cottidae) and suckers (Catostomidae).
