Regan Dunn

Interim Assistant Deputy Director and Assistant Curator, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum

Dr. Regan Dunn is the Interim Assistant Deputy Director and an Assistant Curator at La Brea Tar Pits. She oversees daily management of the Tar Pits and Hancock Park and is helping to re-imagine this world-famous paleontological site. As a paleobotanist, Dr. Dunn’s research seeks to understand the interplay between climate, plants, and animal evolution through time, with a focus on periods of rapid change. Her research at La Brea Tar Pits focuses on understanding climate and vegetation change over the last 60,000 years in the Los Angeles Basin—a critical period of change in the history of our city.

Dr. Dunn received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Washington. Prior to joining NHMLAC, she worked for the National Park Service and several natural history museums including the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center, the Burke Museum of Nature and Culture, and the Field Museum in Chicago.
