Amber Lincoln

Collections Manager, Anthropology (Archaeology)

As a museum professional, Amber has collaborated with Native American, First Nations, and Indigenous advisors on cultural heritage projects in North America, Sápmi (northern Scandinavia) and Siberia. In 2011, Amber earned a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland with a focus on material heritage, human-environmental relations and colonialism. She has prioritized collaborative research and exhibition projects that explore how Indigenous People use their material traditions and historical artifacts to address challenges that are linked to colonial histories, such as marginalization and ill health. Most recently, she co-authored a book and 2021 exhibition at the British Museum in London called, Arctic: Culture and Climate, which explores Indigenous Arctic Peoples’ relationships with weather and perspectives on climate change.
