The Art of Preserving Wilderness with Special Species
Experience immersive new installations in NHM's restored diorama hall.
Special Species, a collective of three artists (RFX1 (Jason Chang), Joel Fernando, and Yesenia Prieto), created an installation for Reframing Dioramas: The Art of Preserving Wilderness. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of NHM’s diorama halls, the exhibition explores the complicated history and unique artistry of habitat dioramas, presented in a newly restored hall that was previously closed to the public for decades.
