Annie, Mabel and Ellen Soo, 1904

In the 1970s, Ellen Soo Moon's husband and son donated a small collection of her photographs to the museum, shedding light on a Chinese American story. Almost fifty years later, a great-grand niece came forward with even more information on the photos and the family that donated them. The pictures capture a momentous time in the lives of Ellen Soo and her sisters, Annie and Mabel. Orphaned after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the girls were raised Presbyterian missionaries, events that would forever alter their lives.
