Dancing in L.A. is NHM's vibrant new series celebrating culture and choreography. Captivating performances bring the Commons Theater to life with music, movement, and community spirit. Each day spotlights local dance groups in dynamic 30-minute programs—presented twice daily—showcasing the rich intersections of art, culture, and nature.

On January 18, Kim Eung Hwa & Korean Dance Academy presents a 30-minute live performance featuring traditional dances from Korea.

About the Dance Group:

Kim Eung Hwa & Korean Dance Academy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1980, aims to preserve and share the vibrant art of Korean traditional dance and music. We welcome people of all ages, gender, and ethnicity who wish to learn about the richness of Korean culture.

What to Expect:

A captivating 30-minute live performance featuring traditional Korean dances. Two show times: 3 and 4 pm

3 pm | Timeless Elegance: The Beauty of Korean Dance
The Kim Eung Hwa & Korean Dance Company brings the elegance, history, and expressive artistry of traditional Korean dance to the Natural History Museum with signature works that highlight Korea’s rich cultural heritage. Known for refined dance technique, vibrant costumes, and rhythmic precision, the company showcases various traditional Korean dances ranging from graceful court traditions to spirited folk expressions. Each dance embodies centuries of storytelling through symbolic gestures, flowing lines, and dynamic group formations, offering audiences an immersive glimpse into the beauty and depth of Korean dance.

4 pm | The Heartbeat of Korea: Nongak’s Rhythms and Celebration
The Kim Eung Hwa & Korean Dance Company presents Nongak, a vibrant traditional Korean folk performance that blends dance, rhythm, and communal spirit. Rooted in village celebrations and agricultural rituals, Nongak bursts with energy through dynamic drumming, synchronized movement, and the joyful interplay of performers. Colorful costumes, spinning sangmo ribbons, and powerful percussion rhythms create an atmosphere of festivity and unity, inviting audiences to experience the heartbeat of Korea’s rural heritage. Through this lively and immersive performance, we honor the enduring spirit of community, celebration, and cultural pride at the core of Korean Nongak.
