Join us January 24 for hands-on science activities, Weather Hunters screenings, and a family-friendly Q&A with producer Dete Meserve and actors Tandi Fomukong and Kapri Ladd.

PBS SoCal is bringing Weather Hunters to life at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. On Saturday, January 24th, explore the science of weather through fun activities and special screenings of PBS SoCal’s new animated series featuring 8-year old weather detective, Lily Hunter, and her dog, Cumulus. 

Weather Hunters’ activities will take place from 1 to 4 pm and screenings will begin at 3 pm, followed by a family-friendly Q&A with show producer Dete Meserve, Tandi Fomukong, the voice of Lily Hunter, and Kapri Ladd, the voice of Corky Hunter. In addition, enjoy immersive experiences throughout the museum and make it a day full of discovery and fun!  Activities and screenings are free with museum General Admission. Screenings are available on a first come, first served basis.

Dete Meserve, Executive Producer, Showrunner
Dete Meserve is an award-winning producer and creator of films and television series, as well as a bestselling novelist. Through her company, Silver Creek Falls Entertainment, she currently serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner of Weather Hunters for PBS Kids and Executive Producer of Not A Box on Apple TV+.

 

Her producing credits include Ready Jet Go!, Good Sam (Netflix, based on her bestselling novel), Bernie (starring Jack Black), and What Men Want (Paramount). Her latest novel, The Memory Collectors–about four people given the chance to spend an hour in their past–is in development as a TV series.

Tandi Akwen Fomukong, Voice of Lily Hunter
Tandi Akwen Fomukong is a vibrant young actress born in the city of Los Angeles. Known for her impressive recurring role in the ABC hit series Abbott Elementary as Sydnee, Tandi began her love and passion for acting at the tender age of four years old. She has booked and graced the screen of numerous household brand commercials, and makes an appearance in the Netflix feature Shirley, helmed by Regina King. Currently, Tandi is a series regular on the animated series Dora and Weather Hunters. Tandi is represented by DDO Kids and CGEM Talent.

Kapri Ladd, Voice of Corky Hunter
Kapri Ladd has been acting since the age of three and moved to Los Angeles in 2021 to pursue her acting career full-time. Kapri is currently a series lead in Al Roker’s animated PBS Kids series Weather Hunters, playing Corky Hunter. She is also a lead in Disney Jr’s animated series Iron Man and His Awesome Friends, as the character Ironheart/Riri Williams. In addition, Kapri landed a recurring role as Sylvie in ABC’s Emmy Award-winning show Abbott Elementary.

Carin Greenberg, Executive Producer, Series Developer
Carin Greenberg is a creator, writer, story editor and producer of children’s entertainment. A Peabody Finalist, winner of three Daytime Emmys, two Annie Awards and a Writers Guild Award, she has received eleven additional Daytime Emmy nominations. Carin is Executive Producer of Weather Hunters, an animated series on PBS Kids, which she developed with, and for, America’s Weatherman, Al Roker. Carin has also story edited, produced, and written for many other children's programs on Apple TV+, Nick Jr, Prime Video, Disney, Discovery Kids, and HBO Family. Previously, Greenberg authored 26 books for children, including her seven-book Karate Club series for Penguin USA. Carin is a graduate of Yale University.

John Semper, Executive Producer, Head Writer
John Semper is a veteran writer, producer, and showrunner with more than 40 years of experience in television, film, animation, and interactive media. His credits include classic animated series such as Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs, The Jetsons, DuckTales, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and My Little Pony, as well as producing and writing the animated Fraggle Rock series and co-creating Dog City for Jim Henson Productions. He is best known as producer and head writer of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, working directly with Stan Lee, earning an Annie nomination, and later an Emmy nomination for Static Shock. His previous work for PBS includes Puzzle Place and Jay Jay the Jet Plane.
