Pride in Bloom: Natural HERstory Strikes Again

Pride in Bloom is back and brighter than ever, transforming the Museum into a vibrant, all-ages destination filled with glamour, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart. Co-created with Drag Arts Lab, this joyful celebration welcomes all, from the youngest explorers to lifelong learners, to experience a special drag musical that blends drag art with natural science. This family-friendly performance beautifully explores how transformation and resilience shine in both the natural world and our human communities.

Throughout the day, visitors of all generations can engage with interactive activities designed to inspire and connect. Embark on a rainbow scavenger hunt that links the symbolism of Pride flags to the Museum's vast collections, or stop by our craft station to create a custom pronoun pin (while supplies last). Between the festivities, guests can browse a mini resource fair, groove to the DJ on the Plaza, get their faces painted, or join our Museum Educators for casual pop-up chats centered on diversity, adaptation, and resilience in nature.

Whether you are bringing the kids, joining friends, or visiting solo, this event offers a welcoming and educational space for the entire community to celebrate together!

Natural HERstory: A Drag Musical

From dino discos and asteroid explosions to bird frugs and arthropod eleganza, this show explores how natural history is reflected in our personal experiences. Spaces are limited; wristbands for the shows will be released one hour prior to each showtime on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rainbow Labs Logo

Rainbow Labs is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ youth through mentorship, leadership development, and affirming community programs. This summer, they're recruiting for two exciting opportunities: their Queer & Trans Youth Softball League kicking off in June, and their One Bold Summer (OBS) Day Camp, a 4-week program running July 7 – August 6. Both programs center joy, identity, and connection—creating space for youth to thrive on and off the field. Whether you're a coach, mentor, or community member, they’d love for you to get involved!

Great Autos Logo

Great Autos is an open and affirming car club for the LGBTQIA+ community, including friends and allies. Formed in 1983, they are now the largest LGBTQIA+ car club on the West Coast, with over 1,000 members in Southern California, spanning San Diego, Palm Springs, Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Central Coast. They are a brand-agnostic group, so if you have a classic car, a JDM, a modified car, a lowrider, an unappreciated survivor, a practical classic, a hot rod, or you are just a car lover, you are welcome. They invite and embrace all gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and nationalities. They look forward to sharing our love of cars and some of our cars with the community.

Extraordinary Families: Allies for Every Child Logo

Allies for Every Child has been providing thousands of at-risk children and their families with critical, high-quality early education programs and preventative services. Their trauma informed and evidence based foster care and adoption program, Extraordinary Families, is dedicated to creating stable, loving homes for children and youth in foster care as well as providing comprehensive support for transition-age youth exiting the system and into adulthood. They are proud to be known in the community as an inclusive safe haven and are a recognized leader in supporting LGBTQ youth and families involved in child welfare.
