Beginning in the Edible Garden, take a guided bird walk through the Nature Gardens to identify avian Angelenos as part of Project Phoenix, the community science program investigating how wildfire smoke impacts birds.

Meet a teammate behind the groundbreaking project and learn how you can participate from your home. Whether it's a backyard or the balcony of your apartment, observing birds can be both fascinating and good for your mental health. Volunteering for ten minutes a week can also help scientists better understand how to help birds cope with our increasingly fire-prone world.
