I understand that I am participating in the Museum Insider Tour (the “Tour”), led by staff of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (the “Museum”). I am participating on my own behalf and, if applicable, on behalf of my minor child(ren). I understand that participation in this tour involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury, and I voluntarily choose to participate. I acknowledge that I am participating at my own risk and, if applicable, at the risk of my minor child(ren).
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release and hold harmless the County of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Foundation, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and their respective officers, employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives from any claims or demands arising out of or related to participation in the La Brea Tar Pits Insider Tour, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to claims arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct.
I understand that the tour may include walking through non-public or behind-the-scenes areas of the Museum, including research laboratories, collections areas, workspaces, and other operational areas not generally open to the public. These areas may contain uneven walking surfaces, temporary work materials, tools, equipment, laboratory workstations, specimens, collection materials, and other conditions not typically present in public visitor areas.
I understand that there may be potential slip, trip, or fall hazards, including uneven surfaces and temporary obstructions associated with ongoing research, laboratory, or collections work. I agree to exercise reasonable caution at all times.
I understand that Museum staff may be conducting scientific, conservation, or laboratory activities during the tour. Such activities may involve the use of specialized tools, equipment, chemicals, or other materials. Guests will be directed away from active work areas as appropriate. I agree not to enter restricted areas or touch any tools, equipment, specimens, chemicals, laboratory materials, or workstations unless specifically authorized by Museum staff.
I agree to follow all safety instructions and rules provided by Museum staff at all times, and I understand that failure to do so may result in removal from the tour. I understand that Museum staff are providing instruction and guidance for the tour, but are not responsible for supervising or providing care for minor children. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising their child(ren) at all times. Participation in the tour is recommended for guests 7 years of age and older. A ratio of one (1) adult to no more than three (3) children is required.
I grant permission to the Museum, without additional compensation, to photograph, record, or otherwise capture my likeness and/or the likeness of my minor child(ren) during the tour for educational, public relations, or informational purposes, including use in Museum exhibits, publications, and on the Museum’s website. I understand that the Museum is not obligated to use any such images or recordings.
I agree that this acknowledgment and release may be signed electronically and that my electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature. I confirm that I have read and understand this document and agree to its terms.
