In celebration of Earth Day, NHM presents Green Screen: Our Planet on Film, a free film series in our new Commons Theater. Through powerful storytelling, this special program highlights diverse ecosystems, environmental histories, urgent challenges facing our planet today, and more.
From the ecological wonders of the Eastern Himalayas to the lasting impact of Los Angeles’ water history, Green Screen offers an opportunity to engage with vital environmental issues on screen–and in conversation.
What to expect:
- Exclusive screenings of environmental films from all over the globe.
- Post-screening Q&A with filmmakers and guests.
- Screening Times: Noon Program at 12 pm and Afternoon Program at 3 pm
- Access to NHM Commons, our new gathering space designed for community and conversation.
2026 Screenings
This year’s Green Screen: Our Planet on Film screening series will take place during NHM’s Earth Day Festival on April 19, 2026. Featuring short films from around the world by filmmakers of all ages. The series showcases unique perspectives and clear messages of environmental awareness and climate action as told by emerging filmmakers, young activists and aspiring creatives. From kid-focused animated films with valuable messages to insightful profiles on persistence and survival, Green Screen 2026 presents unique voices and moving stories.
