Chebon Marshall

Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Chebon Marshall provides strategic leadership and operational oversight while driving the institution’s overall success. This includes Facilities, Operations, Security, Support Services (General Services, Contract Services, and Janitorial), Horticulture, and leadership of Guest Experience, encompassing Guest Relations, Food & Beverage, Retail Operations, and Special Events. With over thirty years of federal, state, and local government experience, he also oversees Government Relations to advocate on behalf of the Museums while creating strong relationships with stakeholders.

Marshall has led teams in the public and private sectors, held roles as a senior advisor to statewide, legislative, and local elected officials, and served as a Chief of Staff in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Early in his career he managed and advised political campaigns, and worked on social and environmental justice issues.  Prior to joining the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, Marshall was Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer at the California Institute of the Arts.

Chebon, whose name is Muscogee Creek in origin, grew up in Oklahoma and now lives in L.A. When not working, he enjoys reading history, is a science fiction geek, and drinks entirely too much coffee.
