Science of SpongeBob Activity: Make Your Own Trace Fossil

jellyfish fields from spongebob squarepants

When is a fossil not the ancient remains of a creature?

When it's a trace fossil!  A trace fossil is a type of fossil record that shows evidence of life but isn’t the actual preserved remains of a plant or animal. Think fossil fin prints and ancient worm holes. Many fossils from marine (or ocean) animals are formed in this way. Create your own in this activity!
