Explore Jane Goodall's Profound Impact on Conservation and Advocacy

On March 25, a panel of L.A. community scientists, conservationists and activists discussed Dr. Goodall's evolution to activism and how we can all make a difference for the second installment of A Closer Look at Becoming Jane at NHM.

A Closer Look at Becoming Jane 2

"Every single one of us matters, every single one of us has a role to play, and every single one of us makes a difference every single day. "

Dr. Jane Goodall's famous quote reflects her shift from scientific research to community-driven conservation. For the second installment of A Closer Look at Becoming Jane, panelists of experts dove into that legacy at NHM. Moderated by Patt Morrison, this event featured Laurel Watkins, Roots & Shoots Program Officer, Jane Goodall Institute USA; Marcos Trinidad, Director, Audubon Center at Debs Park;  and our own Lila Higgins, Senior Manager, Community Science, Natural History Museum of L.A. County. The panel touched on the importance of representation in conservation science, community-driven conservation and how to empower young people as they shape our planet's future. Guests asked questions, explored Roots & Shoots and the Audobon Center at Debs Park at display tables, and got a behind-the-scenes look at Community Science collections and Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Jane Goodall
