Join us as we explore the diversity of cats in connection with our newest temporary exhibit, Fierce! The Story of Cats. You’ll hear from the Co-Senior Manager of Community Science, Miguel Ordeñana, about his work with mountain lion conservation in Los Angeles, facilitators will lead classroom activities to inspire your next lesson plan, and educators will receive free tickets to explore the Fierce! exhibit after the program.

About Our Speaker

Miguel Ordeñana, who joined NHMLAC in April 2013, is an environmental educator and wildlife biologist. As a Senior Manager of Community Science, Miguel promotes and creates community science projects and recruits and trains participants. Miguel utilizes his mammal research background by conducting urban mammal research in L.A. and co-leads NHMLAC’s Southern California Squirrel Survey. Miguel continues to work, locally and internationally, on carnivore and bat research, including a jaguar project in Nicaragua. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California and a M.S. in Ecology from UC Davis.
