Jorge Velez-Juarbe, Associate Curator of Marine Mammals
Jorge Velez-Juarbe is the Associate Curator of Marine Mammals at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. He spends his time immersed in the watery world of fossil marine mammals. From 30-foot sea cows to dwarf sperm whales and every marine mammal in between, Dr. Velez-Juarbe investigates how these incredible creatures evolved, as well as the evolutionary history of the animals and plants of the Caribbean region where he grew up.
