Seasonal day camps for kids in grades K-5 at the Natural History Museum

Get ready for another exciting season of Adventures in Nature Day Camp at the Natural History Museum! Whether it’s exploring dinosaurs or the nature all around us in new ways, Adventures in Nature Camps have provided three decades of unique, hands-on experiences for campers—giving them up-close access to 4.5 billion years of life on Earth. With so much adventure, your child’s camp memories will surely last a lifetime!

Insect Investigators | June 29–July 2

This week, campers will be immersed in all things bugs! During this engaging week, they’ll explore our Nature Gardens to discover the smallest creatures living there and the habitats they call home. Campers will put on their entomology hats and naturalist glasses to practice real-life entomology. Join us for bug-themed projects, up-close encounters with live bugs, time in the Museum’s expansive Nature Gardens and Nature Lab, and the chance to meet real museum entomologists!

Raptor Rangers | July 6–10

Journey back in time to the land of dinosaurs, where a tyrant king once ruled! Campers will learn all about theropods, the sharp-toothed carnivorous dinosaurs from which birds evolved. From Velociraptor to Tyrannosaurus rex and Allosaurus, they’ll discover what made these predators so powerful! Through hands-on dinosaur activities, campers will also meet the scientists who excavate and study these prehistoric giants!

Pod Patrol | July 13–17

Dive into a week all about whales! Marine science-loving campers will explore the Museum's newest exhibit, Orcas!, and learn all about orcas, blue whales, dolphins, porpoises, and more. They’ll also take a simulated dive on our Ocean Experience Mobile Museum, step into the role of cetologists, and learn from the Museum scientists who study whales and ocean life!

Nocturnal Neighbors | July 20–24
 

What happens when the sun goes down, the stars shine bright, and the moon is out?  This week, campers will discover nocturnal animals that thrive at night, both near and far. With flashlights and pencils in hand, they’ll explore species like bats, owls, coyotes, raccoons, and more! Along the way, campers will study nightlife, meet a live nocturnal animal, and hear from Museum wildlife biologists!

Paleo Tales | July 27–31

Grab your chisel and brush as we gear up for a week dedicated to fossils! Campers will explore Earth’s history to uncover clues left behind by ancient animals and plants. From dinosaurs to Ice Age animals, they’ll make discoveries through paleo-inspired activities, meet paleontologists, and interact with real fossils!

Museum Makers | August 3–7

Have you ever wondered how a museum comes to life? This week, campers will go behind the scenes to see how collections are cared for, how exhibits are created, and what research happens every day. They visit laboratory and collection spaces, and meet the staff who shape the museum experience. Campers will participate in hands-on exhibit-inspired projects and learn about various museum sciences!
