A Bucket of Blood (1959)

Get ready for another night of campy chills, quirky cats, and cult cinema! Don't miss your chance to see A Bucket of Blood (1959), a cult classic directed by “King of Cult” by Roger Corman, in NHM's new Commons Theater. Stay after the film for an engaging post-screening discussion with host Alix Catherine of The Welcome Party podcast and guests Emily Baeza (producer, filmmaker, and content creator; Movie Mija), Chelsea Cook (Twitch variety streamer; whoischelsea), Jason Patrick Galit (aka JPG, pop culture educator and consultant, InterMyth), and Austin Olivia Kendrick (film/TV sound editor, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds). Together, they will explore the enduring role of the B-movie genre, its influence on pop culture and counterculture, and the taboo nature of horror, as well as the unique blend of humor, horror, and feline mischief that makes this film a cult favorite.

About the Film:

A Bucket of Blood (1959), directed by Roger Corman and starring Dick Miller and Barboura Morris, follows the nerdy Walter Paisley, a maladroit busboy at a beatnik café who doesn't fit in with the cool scene around him. Hoping to woo his beautiful co-worker Carla, Walter makes a bust of her –– but when his klutziness results in the death of his landlady's cat, he panics and hides its body under a layer of plaster. To his surprise,Carla and her friends are captivated  by the resulting artwork, inspiring Walter to create even larger and more elaborate pieces using the same darkly artistic process.
