Pounce into Homeschool Day at the Natural History Museum! Celebrate the Fantastic Felines of the animal kingdom with us in connection with our newest temporary exhibit, Fierce! The Story of Cats. We’ll have crafting activities, exploration tables, a puma puppet prowl, special afternoon programming facilitated by a Museum Educator and so much more! See our full program schedule below.

9:30 am–2:30 pm | Welcome Table
Visit us at the Welcome Table in the galleries to grab scavenger hunts and other resources

10 am–2 pm | Fierce! The Story of Cats
Add free tickets to our new and temporary exhibit highlighting the beauty, diversity, and predatory skills of felines. Full price tickets will be available if free tickets sell out.

10 am–3 pm | Live Animal Meet & Greet
Learn about our Live Animal program and meet one of our animal ambassadors

10:30 am & 11:30 am | Puppet Prowl
Be on the lookout for our Performing Arts Team leading our cat puppets on a stroll through the Museum and gardens.

1 pm & 2 pm | Noes to Toes: Purrrfect Predators
Have you ever wondered exactly how your beloved pet is adapted for hunting? Join a museum educator as we learn how cats have evolved to be purrr-fect predators from their nose to their toes!
Community Plaza Amphitheater: Level G | Drop-in | All ages welcome

11 am–2 pm | Cats and Crafts
Leave your tracks behind in our kitty coloring corner in the Fierce! exhibit. We’ll have coloring sheets for your young learners to color and display inside of our Cat’s Classroom.

*We are offering limited discounted Spider Pavilion tickets (for entry 10 am–12 pm, in 30-minute time slots) and free tickets to enter Fierce! The Story of Cats to our Homeschoolers at any admissions kiosk. When you arrive, hop in line at our ticketing kiosks to add these tickets to your order. Tickets are limited quantity and first come, first served. Have your order number ready for a speedy check-in!  If discounted or free tickets sell out, homeschoolers are welcome to purchase full price tickets for add-ons.

HOMESCHOOL DAY TIPS

  • Advanced registration is not required to participate in Homeschool Day. We recommend arriving early as tickets for special Homeschool Day programs with limited availability will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Limited discounted Spider Pavilion tickets will be available! You can request Spider Pavilion tickets at any ticket booth with General Admission.
  • Bring a pencil and clipboard to take advantage of our activities available in the Grand Foyer.
  • On Homeschool Day, homeschool educators receive 10% off in the Museum Store with their admissions sticker.
  • Prepare for your time at the Natural History Museum with our pre-visit materials:
