Celebrating Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx/e Communities
Recognizing the heritage and history of the Hispanic and Latino/a/x community, past and present.
A celebration of the Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx/e communities
The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County are proud to join the nationwide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. During this month, and throughout the year, we will share stories from past and present and recognize the richly diverse Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx/e community who call Los Angeles home.
- Hispanic refers to a person who is from or a descendant of someone who is from a Spanish-speaking country.
- Latino/a refers to a person who is from or a descendant of someone who is from a country in Latin America.
- Latinx/e is used as a gender-neutral or nonbinary alternative to Latino or Latina to refer to a person who is from or a descendant of someone who is from a country in Latin America.
Los Angeles is home to many vibrant and diverse Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx/e communities, and below these are just a few of the stories, people, places, organizations, and events that have shaped Los Angeles and beyond.
Join the conversation on social media by sharing your own stories about Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx heritage by using #NHMLA and #HispanicHeritageMonth.
