CA Art Club | Natural History Museum of Los Angeles

107th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition

Past Exhibition

The California Art Club’s annual exhibition of contemporary-traditional fine art spotlights work from more than 220 artists – more than a third of them from Los Angeles. The sculptures and paintings, which range from landscapes and seascapes to figures and still lifes, explore issues including diversity, social justice, science, and environmentalism.

The Museum’s roots with the California Art Club are deep. The club’s annual exhibitions were held at the Museum from 1913 to 1944 and Club member Julia Bracken Wendt (1868 to 1942) sculpted “Three Muses” (1914), the group of goddesses representing History, Science, and Art, which is still the centerpiece of our historic Rotunda today.
